OUR FOUNDER
CHERRILL HUTCHINSON
"I founded BWKI because I needed it — and I couldn't find it.
I was looking for a space where I could grow, heal, and be supported as a Black woman: not just professionally, but personally and creatively too. A space that felt like it was made for me, not adapted for me. I looked around, and it wasn't there.
So I built it.
That was 2019. What started as a vision has become a community — of women who show up for each other, who celebrate each other's milestones, and who know that they are not alone.
BWKI is more than a mission. It's a movement, rooted in kindness, built on community, and always — always — led by love."

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to create spaces where Black women feel seen, heard and supported to thrive — personally, creatively and professionally.
We use creativity, storytelling and community insight to design culturally responsive experiences that strengthen wellbeing, build confidence and create meaningful connection.
At the heart of BWKI is a belief that the women we work with are not simply participants, but voices that shape the spaces and programmes created for them. By listening, collaborating and responding to lived experience, we create opportunities for women to connect, express themselves and move forward with greater confidence.
Kindness remains at the heart of everything we do — not simply as an act, but as a way of building stronger, more connected communities.
